Eucalyptus deglupta is a tall tree, commonly known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus, the Mindanao Gum, or the Rainbow Gum. The multi-hued bark is the most distinctive feature of the tree. Patches of outer bark are shed annually, showing a bright green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.

The Dark Hedges is a unique stretch of the Bregagh Road near Armoy, in Ireland. Over the past 300 years, the Beech trees guarding either side of the lane have reached up and across to each other, becoming heavily intertwined to create a natural arched tunnel where shadow and light plays through entwined branches.
